Membership Requirements

IST volunteers must meet the following membership criteria:

1. 21 years of age or older (due the sensitive information we work with).
2. Approval as an emergency worker by the King County Sheriff’s Office, including:
   1. Background check
   2. Completion of IS-100 and IS-700
   3. Possession of a valid drivers license
   4. Possession of valid auto insurance
3. Ability to complete required training within one year, as detailed on the training page:
   1. Washington State Search and Rescue Core Competency Support Responder Certification
   2. Unit Incident Command System Training Requirements
4. Ability to obtain an FCC Amateur Radio Technician License within two years.

On an ongoing basis, members are required annually to respond to four missions and attend four unit meetings.
